Jasmine Crockett Fires Back at Pam Bondi Over Elon Musk Warning

Congresswoman Jasmine Crockett has fired back at Attorney General Pam Bondi’s warning to her over promoting Tesla protests.

Bondi appeared on Fox News on Sunday with a warning for Crocket, saying the Texan congresswoman should “tread carefully,” when it comes to Musk. Bondi also accused Crockett of calling for Musk to be “taken out” on her birthday.

Crockett clarified later on MSNBC, that she had said she was attending a “Tesla Takedown,” a popular protest movement against Musk and his car company.

The congresswoman and the attorney general have been contacted for comment via email and the Justice Department website, respectively, outside of normal working hours.

Why It Matters

The Trump administration has stated that attacks on Tesla cars and dealerships are, to them, domestic terrorism, and have even threatened deportation to prison in El Salvador for offenders. Tesla Takedown protests are non-violent protests outside of Tesla dealerships and are unrelated to the random arson attacks on Teslas across the U.S.

Over half of Americans view Tesla CEO Elon Musk unfavorably, and his Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE) has been a hot-button issue at Republican and Democrat town halls across the country.

What to Know

Bondi’s comments on Crockett came after the congresswoman said that she is supportive of the Tesla Takedown mass protests planned for March 29.

Over 500 protests are planned for that date, which happens to be Crockett’s birthday. She made a statement in support of the movement at a virtual Tesla Takedown rally, where she said: “On March 29, it’s my birthday, and all I want to see happen on my birthday is for Elon to be taken down.

“I have learned, as I serve on the DOGE Oversight committee, that there is only one language that the people that are in charge understand right now, and that language is money.”

Bondi on Fox News said that Crockett called to take Musk himself out, and said “nothing will happen to Elon Musk.”

However, hitting back later that evening, Crockett stressed that she was talking about a non-violent protest and that she told people during the rally to make sure they adhere to all local laws while protesting.

She also told MSNBC anchor Alex Witt she has never made excuses for violent acts, unlike the Trump administration, who pardoned January 6 rioters charged with violently assaulting police officers.

The Tesla Takedown movement was started after Musk became an integral part of the Trump administration. The protests have now expanded across the country, and even to Tesla dealerships in Europe.

Its website states: “Tesla Takedown is a peaceful protest movement. We oppose violence, vandalism and destruction of property. This protest is a lawful exercise of our First Amendment right to peaceful assembly.”

What People Are Saying

Bondi on Fox News’ Sunday Morning Futures: “She is an elected public official, so she needs to tread very carefully because nothing will happen to Elon Musk, and we are going to fight to protect all the Tesla owners throughout this country.”

Jasmine Crockett on Alex Witt Reports: “So just in case the slow people listening decide to clip this up later, I just want to say that I have never promoted violence whatsoever. Yet, I’ve also never made excuses for those violent actors, such as the ones on January 6th. So Pam Bondi, if you have an issue with terrorism, maybe you should talk to your boss about locking back up those guys that he let out that participated in January 6th.”

Tesla Takedown website: “Elon Musk is destroying our democracy, and he’s using the fortune he built at Tesla to do it. We are taking action at Tesla to stop Musk’s illegal coup.”

What Happens Next

There will be a large demonstration at Tesla dealerships across the country on March 29. It’s likely that the Trump administration will make a statement about these protests, but it’s unclear if officials will attempt to shut them down. Peaceful protests are protected under the First Amendment.
