Jason Kelce Addresses Travis Kelce’s Possible Retirement After Chiefs Loss
After possibly the toughest game of his career, Travis Kelce is at a crossroads.
For the first time in over a decade, he will not be going to the playoffs with the only NFL team he’s ever known, the Kansas City Chiefs. He watched as his quarterback and close friend, Patrick Mahomes, went down with a torn ACL — an injury that will keep him out for the rest of 2025 and possibly into the 2026 season.
Although his stats are still good, the same impact he had on the former championship-contending Chiefs team isn’t there. The clutch passes that would turn losses into victories this season have become bobbles and drops, allowing his opponents to take advantage on the defensive side of the ball.
As the season winds down, Kelce is planning to have one of the most discussed and publicized weddings in human history next summer to pop star Taylor Swift. The question of whether he should retire has become a talking point not only for the world at large but also for his older brother.

On the preshow to “Monday Night Football,” Jason Kelce, the former Philadelphia Eagle, opened up about his brother’s upcoming decision after a lost season in Kansas City. He offered the best advice he could on air to his younger sibling.
“To nail that decision [of retirement] you need to step away from the game a little bit,” he said on broadcast. “Play these last three games, enjoy them with your teammates, enjoy them with your coaches.”
Travis has made 10 Pro Bowls in his 12 completed seasons as a tight end. Jason, received the honor seven times.
Travis and the Chiefs will continue their season with Gardner Minshew as the starting quarterback on Sunday against the Tennessee Titans before playing the AFC West-leading Denver Broncos on Christmas Day.
