Jason Kelce Responds to Smashing Phone of Fan Who Yelled Slur About Travis
Over the weekend, former Philadelphia Eagles center and current NFL analyst Jason Kelce was involved in an incident involving a fan hurling a homophobic slur at his brother. The fan in question apparently stated, “”Kelce how does it feel that your brother is a f****t for dating Taylor Swift?”

The question did not go over well with Jason, who was seen taking and then smashing the person’s phone. The incident was caught on social media and immediately went viral.
The video above showcases a presumed Penn State student yelling the slur, leading to Kelce grabbing the phone and immediately hurling it to the floor. Considering the former NFL stud is hugely in the spotlight, especially being he is part of the “Monday Night Countdown” show, he addressed the issue before the Kansas City Chiefs and Tampa Bay Buccaneers matchup.
While speaking solemnly to the camera, Kelce states:
“I think everybody seen on social media everything that took place this week. Listen, I am not happy with anything that took place. I’m not proud of it. In a heated moment, I chose to greet hate with hate. I just don’t think that is a productive thing. I really don’t. I don’t think it leads to discourse and is the right way to go about things. In that moment I fell down to a level that I shouldn’t have. The bottom line is, I want to live my life, I try to live my life by the golden rule.
That is what I have always been taught. I try to treat people with common decency and respect. I’m going to keep doing that moving forward, even though I fell short this week. I’m going to do that moving forward … I think we have a game to focus on, and I don’t think this is the platform to necessarily go into more detail.”
Kelce did acknowledge that his response to the incident was not the right way to go about things. Granted, anyone would have been upset at that moment, but the Super Bowl champ should have chosen the higher road in this instance.
Travis and Jason are clearly very close with one another, and the fan that hurled such a horrific thing led to Jason reacting in a very angry manner. It will be interesting to see if he goes into more detail about the situation on his “New Heights” podcast.
