Jenna Ortega Appearing Annoyed With Fan at ‘Wednesday’ Premiere Goes Viral

A video of actress Jenna Ortega appearing annoyed with a fan at the London premiere of Wednesday Season 2 has gone viral on social media.

Newsweek has reached out to Ortega’s representative via email for comment on Friday.

The Context

Wednesday is a Netflix series based on Wednesday Addams from The Addams Family that first premiered in 2022. The show follows Wednesday Addams (Ortega) at Nevermore Academy as she attempts to solve a murder mystery.

It quickly became one of the streamer’s most-watched English-language series of all time, achieving record-breaking numbers in its first week.

Ortega posed for photos on the red carpet at the Wednesday Season 2, Part 1 premiere in London on Wednesday.

At one point, the 22-year-old actress signed autographs for fans. In one video posted to X, Ortega became visibly upset when one fan said her name loudly.

“Oh she’s p***** off and rightfully so, screaming in her face like that is so unnecessary,” X user @cairoswife captioned the viral clip.

At the time of publication, the post racked up over 8 million views, 38,000 likes and 193 comments.

In an interview on Dax Shepard’s Armchair Expert podcast in March 2023, Ortega spoke out about her “social anxiety.”

“I have a really big thing with speech where I feel like I can’t always articulate things the way that I want them to, and the way that I see things in my head is so vastly different than the way that they come out of my mouth,” she said. “That’s why I like to write a lot because it sounds like myself, whereas when I speak, I don’t feel I can reach people.”

During a separate interview with Harper’s Bazaar in May, the You star said Wednesday‘s success made her “unhappy.”

“To be quite frank, after the show and trying to figure everything out, I was an unhappy person,” Ortega said. “After the pressure, the attention—as somebody who’s quite introverted, that was so intense and so scary.”
