Jennifer Lopez Will Keep This $5 Million Dollar Asset From Ben Affleck Marriage
Entertainment gossip and news from Newsweek’s network of contributors
Jennifer Lopez is walking away from her marriage with a valuable reminder of her time with Ben Affleck.
Following the couple’s divorce settlement earlier this week, it was confirmed by Page Six,after reviewing the exes’ court documents, that Lopez, 55, will hold onto the stunning 8.5-carat green diamond ring from Affleck, 52, worth an estimated $5 million.
The ring, which is complemented with matching trapezoid-shaped white diamonds, was a special gift from Affleck when he proposed in 2022. The green diamond, a rare and striking choice, was selected specifically because it’s Lopez’s favorite color. The proposal also came with a personal touch: Affleck had the ring engraved with the phrase “not.going.anywhere.,” a reference to how he used to sign their emails when they rekindled their romance.

Experts, including Mike Fried, CEO of The Diamond Pro, previously noted to the outlet that the ring has incredible value. “A green diamond of that size is incredibly rare… I would value the ring well over $5 million and could be worth more than $10 million,” Fried said to Page Six.
Lopez, who reportedly has no plans to return the ring, has allegedly made it clear that the diamond was a gift, and she feels no obligation to part with it now that the marriage has ended. A source close to the singer mentioned to OK! Magazine shortly after news broke of their divorce that “Just because the relationship didn’t work out doesn’t mean she has to give it back,” and that Affleck “doesn’t mind” since he’s been through similar situations in the past.
TMZ originally reported on Monday, January 6, that Lopez and Affleck have officially finalized their divorce, nearly five months after the “Let’s Get Loud” singer filed. According to the outlet, both parties will retain the assets they individually acquired during their marriage. Affleck keeps his earnings from various film projects, including his stake in the production company Artists Equity. Lopez will keep the earnings from her major projects, such as Atlas and Shotgun Wedding. The couple also agreed on their $61 million home, with details of the arrangement remaining confidential. Lopez will also revert to her maiden name, Jennifer Lynn Lopez.

The two previously had a relationship in the early 2000s, with the actor proposing to Lopez in 2002 with a pink diamond ring, though they called off that engagement two years later. After years apart, the couple, commonly referred to as “Bennifer,” rekindled their romance in 2021, and in April 2022, they got engaged for a second time. They married in a small ceremony in Las Vegas in July 2022, followed by a more formal celebration in Georgia later that year. However, despite their second chance at love, they ultimately decided to divorce in 2024, two years after their second wedding.
