‘Jeopardy!’ Fans Call Out Taylor Swift Clue Contestants Missed—’Weak’

Taylor Swift fans watching syndicated quiz show Jeopardy! weren’t too pleased when none of the contestants got a question right about their favorite singer.

On Thursday’s episode, returning two-time champ Rishabh Wuppalapati took on Angel Poe, an educational consultant from Florida, and Aaron Brown, an entrepreneur from Ontario, Canada. They were faced in the first round with the categories: Picture the Hit Song, Planted by, Around the U.S. the App & Website Us ‘Er,’ Recent Slang and That Blows!

Wuppalapati selected “Picture the Hit Song” for $600 and host Ken Jennings read the clue: “Taylor Swift felt it creeping up on her.”

But when none of the three contestants knew the answer and it timed out, Jennings joked: “Ooh the Swifties might be mad. What is a Lavender Haze?” which is a Swift 2022 song from her album Midnights.

People watching at home thought that question and others preceding it were “weak” and that the contestants should have known the responses.

“Beige flag? Lavender haze? Nobody’s getting these weak #jeopardy clues,” wrote @TFHackett on X, formerly Twitter.

“What!??!?! No one knew the answer to that Taylor Swift question? #jeopardy,” added @melissa_TVjunky.

“JUST SCREAMED “WHAT IS THE LAVENDER HAZE!!!!” At my@Jeopardy screen and@KenJennings correctly said ooooh the swifties might be mad at no one getting this one!!! 💀😈💜,” wrote @heather_lindsy.

But one person admitted they also didn’t know the answer. “Taylor question in jeopardy and I didn’t even get it,” wrote @bedchemdiaz.

Wuppalapati ended up wining the day’s game again, bringing his three-day winning total to $52,802.

It’s not the first time Jeopardy! contestants have missed a Swift question.

In March, during the elite Jeopardy! Tournament of Champions competition, Ben Chan, Yogesh Raut and Troy Meyer were given the clue: “Inspired by her bestie, Tay Tay sang when ‘somebody tells you they love you’ at this title age ‘you’re gonna believe them’,” which was the $400 clue from the “Songs of Youth” category. The answer was “Fifteen” from her 2008 album, Fearless.

None of the champions, who had been previous winners on regular Jeopardy!, knew the answer and they recognized Swift’s fans were not going to be happy with them.

“We’re gonna get killed for that,” Meyer joked.

Swift is currently completing the final shows on her record-breaking Eras tour and will be performing three times in Miami, Florida, on the weekend.

The tour was originally scheduled for 52 dates, but due to global demand, it extended to more than 150 shows across five continents. The concert tour, which covers multiple eras of her career and lasts more than three hours, will wrap up in Canada in December.
