‘Jeopardy!’ Stars Under Fire Over Missed Question—’Actually Insane’
A reporter from Hawaii who botched a question on Jeopardy! has been mocked on social media.
Monday’s episode of the syndicated trivia show was part of the Jeopardy! Second Chance series, which sees previous contestants who came close to winning their episodes come back for another chance to triumph.
Drew Goins was one of those competitors. He first appeared on the show in September last year and became a fan favorite, despite getting a question about Taylor Swift wrong at the time. Hailing from Honolulu, the reporter went up against Jonquil Garrick-Reynolds of Ottawa and Steve Miller from Oregon.
In the opening round one of the categories was “Albums,” and Goins blitzed the round with eight correct answers, but stumbled at one point, which shocked fans watching at home. A snippet of the moment was also posted to the official Jeopardy! TikTok account.
One question asked, “Montero from 2021 is his official full-length debut album, to which Goins buzzed in and correctly answered “Who is Lil Nas X?”
But when he chose to answer the $1,000 question in the albums category, he was stumped and did not guess that the answer was rapper Post Malone.

People watching at home could not believe Goins knew the answer about Lil Nas X, who is also a rapper, but missed the Post Malone clues, as did his fellow contestants.
“Oh no, now we’ve angered the Mallonenials,” joked host Ken Jennings when all three players failed to buzz in.
Others reacted in the comments section of the TikTok.
“Getting Lil Nas X but not Post is actually insane,” wrote Nathan Sparks.
“I’m ashamed no one got Post Malone,” added Ethan Parker.
“Not getting Post Malone is WILD,” commented Lumen.
But plenty of people were happy that Goins was able to redeem his Swift error from September by correctly answering a question about the singer on Monday’s episode.
Goins admitted he felt the heat from Swifties— the name of her fans— and even his brother when he got a question wrong about her during his September appearance.
“I got a Taylor Swift question wrong, went home worried that the Swifties would come rip me out of my bed one night, but it turns out the angry Swiftie was my brother, who’s here today,” Goins told Jennings on Monday’s show. “The night before taping, he had prepared an entire [Taylor Swift] practice board for me,” he added.
Jennings reassured him by telling Goins: “That’s what Second Chance is for.”
