Jerry Jones Hints Major Cowboys Coaching Change Could Be Coming
The Dallas Cowboys have been one of the more frustrating teams to watch this season.
The team had Super Bowl aspirations entering the season, but after trading superstar pass-rusher Micah Parsons to the Green Bay Packers in a move that shocked the NFL world, it became evident how integral Parsons was to the team’s success.
With just three games left in the regular season, Dallas has allowed the most passing yards per game (254.8), the second-most points per game (30.0), and the fourth-most yards per game (374.9), and seemingly everyone is pointing the finger squarely at defensive coordinator Matt Eberflus — and rightfully so.

After Sunday’s 34-26 loss to the Minnesota Vikings — a game in which the Cowboys surrendered two touchdowns and a field goal on Minnesota’s final three drives in the second half —owner Jerry Jones was asked if Eberflus would still be the team’s DC next season.
Jones’ response alluded to a possible change coming if the team’s defense continued to struggle to close out the season under Eberflus’ watch.

“The adjustments that we should be making (defensively) should be with these next three games in mind,” Jones said, via The Athletic. “With three games left in the short time that we’ve got to play them in, then that will impact any adjustments that you make regarding coaching with the time frame we’re dealing with. That’s a legit question.”
Eberflus rose to prominence as a top defensive mind as the defensive coordinator of the Indianapolis Colts from 2018 to 2021.
He parlayed that into his first head-coaching opportunity with the Chicago Bears in 2022, but he was fired 12 games into last season after a 4-8 start. The Bears were 14-32 during his tenure.
