Kathy Hochul’s Top Deputy Wants To Primary Her In New York

New York Governor Kathy Hochul’s top deputy is running to primary her in next year’s gubernatorial race.
What To Know
New York Lieutenant Governor Antonio Delgado announced his candidacy on X, formerly Twitter, on Monday afternoon.
“New York, I’m not here to play the game,” Delgado said. “I’m here to change it. I’m running to be your next Governor.”
Accompanying his announcement was a campaign video that touted Delgado’s parents’ working-class background, his New York upbringing and his educational background.
“When I was growing up in Schenectady, I was growing up watching my parents cutting coupons, putting clothes on layaway,” Delgado said in the video announcement. “Education was everything. They worked us up into the middle class. Kids growing up had a more likely chance of success than their parents. Not so much the case now.”
