Kelly Ripa Reveals Awkward Moment Husband Mark Consuelos Always Blows Up Her Phone
Entertainment gossip and news from Newsweek’s network of contributors
In a special episode of Live With Kelly & Mark aired Tuesday, October 1, co-host Kelly Ripa kicked off Breast Cancer Awareness Month with an important PSA. But of course, Ripa and her husband and co-host Mark Consuelos had to throw in some comic relief to lighten the moment.
During the episode, Ripa, 53, urged viewers to visit their doctors to get a mammogram. Ripa also shared that she gets them regularly, and that Consuelos, 53, always happens to call her in the middle of the procedure.
“October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month, so this is my plea to all of you! Don’t forget to get your mammogram screening. I just got my letter in the mail. It’s time,” Ripa said at the beginning of the episode. “I know it’s your favorite time of year. It’s the one time of year that Mark feels the need to call me incessantly about something, is when I’m in the vice.”
Consuelos laughed, and confirmed this is true, however, he insisted that he calls to check and see how the procedure went. Ripa, however, noted that the timing of his calls tends to be off.
“It’s the one time that you and [our daughter] Lola will start calling me non-stop,” Ripa said. “It’s like you have a pull to call me you know, when I’m there.”
Ripa then simulated the process of getting a mammogram laying her chest on the table, prompting much laughter from the live studio audience. Consuelos then offered Ripa a logical suggestion.
“If you had your Apple Watch, you could just talk to me while it’s being done,” he said.
Ripa, however, wasn’t having it. “Yes, because you’re the very person I want to talk to when that’s being done,” she responded.
