Kevin Nash Reveals Surprising WWE Role He Turned Down

WWE Hall of Famer Kevin Nash has commented on the current creative leadership roles held by his long-time friends, Triple H and Shawn Michaels. Nash, Triple H, and Michaels were all famously part of the backstage group known as “The Kliq.”

In a new interview with The Wrestling Classic, Nash admitted that he never could have imagined seeing his friends in the positions they hold today.

When asked if he expected to see Triple H and Shawn Michaels running WWE creative, Nash gave a direct answer. “No,” he stated, before elaborating on their respective journeys.

Nash recalled Triple H’s dedication to learning the business, even during difficult periods in his career. He noted that Triple H was attending production meetings even when he was in the “doghouse” following the infamous “Curtain Call” incident in 1996.

“I knew Triple H… he was a student of it, and Shawn always loved the business,” Nash said. “All it took was, you know, Triple H to get… kind of in the mix. And then he asked Shawn to help. Of course, Shawn did.”

Nash then explained why he has no desire to take on a similar backstage role himself. He cited the demanding travel schedule as a major reason why he prefers his current lifestyle.

“I was done working by then. That’s the one thing they say. Come back and announce and come back and do this and it’s just like, you got to fly in Sunday to work Monday to leave Tuesday. That’s three days. I mean, you got a job. I don’t want a job.”

While Kevin Nash may not have envisioned it, the creative direction of his friends is on full display tonight with the historic NXT vs. TNA Showdown special. The interpromotional event, a concept spearheaded by Shawn Michaels and approved by Triple H, represents the kind of landscape-altering creative that has become a hallmark of their leadership.
