Kids Sleep on Bunk Bed—Until ‘Worst Fear’ Happens

A mom on social media has shared the shocking footage of what happened when her kids’ bunk bed fell apart, and viewers were relieved nothing worse happened.

TikTok user @auoraprice posted the Ring camera footage from her kids’ bedroom, in which three kids are sleeping peacefully.

Suddenly, the top bunk collapses, sending her oldest daughter’s mattress hurtling down along with several poles from the bed frame, which fell point-down directly toward her son.

The daughter immediately sprang into action, trying to pull the mattress off her brother and asking if he was okay. When the mattress proved too heavy for her, she ran to grab her grandmother.

“Nobody was hurt!” the poster wrote in the caption. “But yeah, don’t hire me to build a bed.”

The video has now been viewed more than 80 million times, and in a follow-up, the poster clarified, “My kids are okay.”

“Some of you guys are a little harsh,” she added.

According to the user, the bed was purchased on Amazon, and while her mother was the first one in the room, she was quickly on her mom’s heels.

She added that she thought her daughter handled the situation well.

“We are no longer using the top bunk,” the poster explained. “I will be figuring out a different sleeping arrangement.”

TikTok users flocked to the comments to weigh in, with one writing, “Why is no one talking about her IMMEDIATELY trying to pull the bed off, yelling for help, then getting mom??

“Baby girl just fell from her bed, that’s scary! She didn’t even check on herself first.”

“All jokes aside, look at how fast babygirl reacted,” another added. “She wasn’t even scared of the fact that she fell; she was worried about her brother being hurt.”

‘So scared’

“She must have been so scared, and she still immediately thought of her sibling,” a third commenter noted.

One poster thought they could see a level of divine individual: “The bed pointy things went ALL around him. Not ONE hit him. I mean, but GOD.”

Finally, on the follow-up, one contributor had a joke: “Could you build my mother-in-law’s bed?”

Several commenters suggested the user buy a trundle bed, which is much safer for kids, as are platform beds, which sit closer to the ground.

Finally, some bunkbeds are built more solidly and include fall protections.
