Knicks’ Mitchell Robinson Calls Out Harsh Fan Criticism After Celtics Loss
The New York Knicks suffered their first loss of the second-round series against the Boston Celtics on Saturday in Game 3, 115-93.
The Knicks fell flat on their face on Saturday in front of their home fans, while the Celtics proved why they are the best road team this season. Very little to nothing went right for the Knicks, including the free-throw shooting of their athletic, young big man, Mitchell Robinson.
Once again, he had a tough day at the free-throw line, converting just 4-of-12 attempts. He opened the game by missing his first five and showed clear signs of frustration, especially after an airball late in the opening quarter.

The Knicks faithful at Game 3 did their part to energize Robinson, but it seems the big man has grown weary of the criticism. On Sunday, Robinson voiced his frustration on social media, calling out the portion of fans who haven’t stood behind him.
“I know y’all commenting & doing stupid stuff thinking I really care. I really don’t. Y’all know what I care about: this motherf*cker (truck), playing basketball & my daughter…Y’all should know me by now. Been here 7 years…😆 Anyway Happy Mother’s Day,” said Robinson.

His struggles from the line have gotten so bad that the Knicks fans were seen pumping up the big man.
In Robinson’s career, he has shot 52.2 percent from the free-throw line.
All series long, the Celtics have been using the hack-of-Robinson strategy, while they only have one win in the series, the strategy appears to work. In the series, Robinson has shot 30.4 percent from the free-throw line. During the season, Robinson shot 68.4 percent from the charity stripe.
The Knicks shot just 68.6 percent from the line in Game 3 as a team.
Celtics head coach Joe Mazzulla spoke on the strategy after the Game 3 win.
“Just process over results,” Mazzulla said. “You just always stick to the process of what you think gives you the best chance to win on that possession and to win in that game.”
Knicks star guard Jalen Brunson spoke on Robinson and his free-throw struggles. He said they must continue to encourage him.
“It’s a tough position to be in, especially mentally. But you’ve got to encourage,” Brunson said. “Everyone has each other’s back regardless. No matter what happens, we’re going to win together, we’re going to lose together. We’re going to go through that together.”
Robinson is averaging 4.1 points, 6.3 rebounds, 0.2 steals, and 0.4 blocks in the playoffs.
