Lakers Get Bronny James Injury Update Before Warriors Season Opener
The Los Angeles Lakers will open their 2025-26 NBA season with a highly-anticipated matchup against the Golden State Warriors on Tuesday night.
Los Angeles will begin its campaign without veteran superstar LeBron James, who will miss at least the next few weeks with sciatica on his right side.
The Lakers have a few other injuries to monitor leading up to Tuesday night’s season opener against the Warriors, including Bronny James.
Bronny was ruled out of Friday’s preseason finale against the Sacramento Kings with an ankle injury. He was also a late scratch before the Lakers’ preseason matchup against the Dallas Mavericks on Oct. 15.
Bronny is currently listed “day-to-day” ahead of the Lakers’ regular-season opener.

Los Angeles head coach JJ Redick provided an update regarding Bronny’s Game 1 status on Sunday.
The second-year point guard was a modified participant in Sunday’s practice session along with rookie forward Adou Thiero (knee). Two-way guard Chris Manon (ankle) was listed as a full participant.
Sixth-year center Jaxson Hayes will be able to suit up for Tuesday’s game against the Warriors despite suffering a minor wrist injury in Friday’s preseason finale against the Kings.
Redick seems happy with the growth he’s seen from Bronny heading into his second NBA season.
How his development is handled and how much time he plays in the NBA compared to the G League will be one of the key storylines for the Lakers this season.
“He is so much more comfortable and confident as a player,” Redick said after the Lakers’ preseason opener against the Suns. “Skill-wise, read-wise, all of those things have improved, but there’s a big difference between improving those things in individual workouts and small group settings and doing it 5-on-5.
“… He’s a totally different player than he was a year ago. I thought the stuff that he did down in the G League last year was huge for him in developing a comfort level in playing at this level.”
Tuesday’s game against the Warriors will tipoff at 10 p.m. ET.
