Lakers Land Luka Doncic in Blockbuster Trade With Mavericks For Anthony Davis
In one of the more surprising trades that we will ever see, the Los Angeles Lakers have traded for star point guard Luka Doncic. In exchange, they have traded away star Anthony Davis to the Dallas Mavericks.
It is a three-team deal between the Lakers, Mavericks, and Utah Jazz. NBA insider Shams Charania of ESPN reported the news on social media.
Here is the full trade:
– Lakers: Luka Doncic, Maxi Kleber, Markieff Morris
– Mavericks: Anthony Davis, Max Christie, 2029 LAL 1st
– Jazz: Jalen Hood-Schifino, 2025 Clippers 2nd, 2025 Mavericks 2nd
Yes, this is real. Sources tell ESPN: Full trade:

According to insider Tim MacMahon of ESPN, the Mavericks were concerned about the conditioning of Doncic, leading to the trade.
“The Mavs had major concerns about moving forward with Luka Doncic due to his constant conditioning issues and the looming commitment of another supermax contract extension this summer, sources told ESPN.”

Additionally, according to insider Marc Stein, Doncic didn’t ask out from the Mavericks. Dallas did this on their own and landed Davis in the process.
Luka Dončić did NOT request a trade, league sources tell @TheSteinLine.
The Mavericks did this on their own accord, getting back Anthony Davis but only one future first-round pick from the Lakers in 2029 for a 25-year-old regarded as a future MVP.

This is one of the wildest trades that we have seen in recent memory. This came out of nowhere and has now completely changed the landscape of the NBA.
For the Lakers, they get a superstar in his prime to pair with LeBron James. Doncic can help anchor the team for the foreseeable future, giving them a star to build around once James retires.
Doncic now pairs with James for the remainder of the season as Los Angeles looks to make a title run. The duo could be lethal for teams to guard against, with Doncic resembling a younger James in a lot of ways.

For Dallas, they now pair Davis with Kyrie Irving for the remainder of the year. The Mavericks will be looking to get back to the NBA Finals.
Just months ago, Dallas was in the NBA Finals with Doncic as the leading man. But now, the Mavericks will go forward with two older stars to see if they can capture a title.
This trade may go down as one of the craziest in NBA history due to the magnitude of the players involved. Buckle up basketball fans, the trade deadline is still a few days away.
