Lakers’ LeBron James ‘Decision’ Announcement Gets Update From NBA Insider
Los Angeles Lakers superstar LeBron James sent the NBA world into a panic after announcing another big “decision” coming up. He took to social media to share that he will be making a second decision on October 7 at 12:00 p.m. EST.
Immediately, fans started asking about whether or not he would be announcing that he’s retiring following the 2025-26 season.
Of course, as many know, James is heading into the final year of his current contract with the Lakers. There have been rumblings and rumors about him potentially playing with another team next season. Some believe that he could retire after this season ends.

At the end of the day, no one has any clue what James’ future holds. Truthfully, he may not either.

While the rumors about him potentially announcing the 2025-26 campaign as his last have gained steam, one NBA insider threw some cold water on that idea.
During an appearance on “NBA Today,” Ramona Shelburne shared her belief that this might not be that big of an announcement at all.
“We all obviously saw this and thought, ‘Whoa, is he announcing something?’” Shelburne said. “But I don’t know that we should get all that worked up about it just from those first clips. It doesn’t sound like something to get too worried about. He did something similar earlier in the summer, and it ended up just being an ad. So, we’ll see what this turns out to be tomorrow.”
Shelburne was talking about James collaborating with Amazon earlier this year and the hype up that he gave for that.
It’s possible that James could be making some kind of an announcement about his NBA future. Or, it might be nothing. All that fans can do is to wait and see what he says on Tuesday.
James still played at an extremely high level last season for Los Angeles. He appeared in 70 regular season games, averaging 24.4 points per game to go along with 8.2 assists, 7.8 rebounds, and a steal. In addition, he shot 51.3 percent from the floor and 37.6 percent from three-point distance.

Heading into this season, James is now 40 years old and will turn 41 on December 30. There is no question that retirement will be coming in the near future for him, whether that be this year or a couple of years from now.
All eyes will be on James as he prepares to make his “second decision” on Tuesday.
