The major league leader in RBIs is heading back to the team he called home from 2022-23 in a major deal ahead of Thursday’s MLB trade deadline.
The Arizona Diamondbacks have reached agreement on a trade that would send All-Star third baseman Eugenio Suarez to the Seattle Mariners, according to multiple reports Wednesday. The deal is reportedly contingent on Suarez passing a physical.
Once official, the best hitter available on the trade market will have found a new home.
According to Daniel Kramer of MLB.com, Tyler Locklear and two pitching prospects will go from Seattle to Arizona.

Suarez has 36 home runs and 87 RBIs this season, the latter tied with Mariners catcher Cal Raleigh for the MLB lead. According to MLB.com researcher Sarah Langs, Suarez’s 36 home runs are the most ever by a player in a season prior to a midseason trade, breaking Mark McGwire’s record of 34 when he was traded from the Oakland Athletics to the St. Louis Cardinals in 1997.
