Lane Kiffin Teases Big Announcement After Final ‘College GameDay’ Decision
Earlier this week ESPN announced it would be headed to Atlanta for the SEC title game between No. 3 Georgia and No. 9 Alabama on Saturday, Dec. 6.
“The Champ Week trip to Atlanta marks the 10th time College GameDay is originating from the SEC Championship and the third straight season,” the Worldwide Leader said in a statement. “…Overall, this will be Alabama’s 62nd appearance on the show and Georgia’s 43rd. The Bulldogs are making their third appearance on GameDay this season, while the Tide is making its second.”
Head coaches Kirby Smart and Kalen DeBoer are scheduled to join the broadcast with a surprise appearance from new LSU head coach Lane Kiffin. The new Tigers head coach, though, canceled his upcoming appearance in the hours before he would have traveled to Atlanta for the show.

Kiffin was busy landing the No. 1 recruit in the country and retaining defensive coordinator Blake Baker.
“Sorry couldn’t make it to Atlanta, but so excited that I stayed to finish this all up!! @CoachBlakeBaker is going nowhere !!!! What a really long amazing Friday for @LSUfootball #ItsDifferent,” Kiffin said in a message on social media.
After landing athlete Lamar Brown, Kiffin received a message from a fan that read, “All Tiger fans wanted was a coach who works.” The head coach responded, teasing more big news in the near future.
“Working on another one this morning!!” he said.
LSU already has a top-15 recruiting class on most major sites like ESPN, 247Sports and On3 Sports. Kiffin, though, doesn’t appear to be resting on his laurels in Baton Rouge.
