Lane Kiffin’s Cryptic Message Leaves Fans Guessing Amid Florida, LSU Rumors

Earlier this week rumors of an “ultimatum” from Ole Miss to head coach Lane Kiffin emerged as Florida and LSU court the hottest name in the college coaching ranks.

During a recent appearance on The Pat McAfee Show, Kiffin denied the deadline of Ole Miss’ rivalry game against Mississippi State on Nov. 28 while making it clear he loves Oxford, MS. “Yeah, that’s absolutely not true,” he said. “There has been no ultimatum, anything like that at all. And so I don’t know where that came from, like a lot of stuff that comes out there. Like I said, man, we’re having a blast. I love it here.”

Not long later, ESPN reported, “Kiffin’s ex-wife, Layla; son, Knox; and his brother Chris Kiffin’s son visited Gainesville, Florida, on Sunday. Layla Kiffin, who lives in Oxford, visited Baton Rouge, Louisiana, the next day with other family members, according to sources.”

As rumors continue to link Kiffin to other SEC powerhouses, the head coach took to social media with his latest daily message.

“Some of the very best parts of your life begin to flow right after you give up. After you give up on trying to be someone you’re not, in placing other people’s opinions higher than your own,” the passage reads. “After you stop trying to live out the plan that you’ve outgrown, after you stop trying to make the wrong pieces fit. Sometimes, holding on isn’t about muscling through, but knowing what you are meant to release along the way.”

The Day 224 passage from The Pivot Year led to plenty of fan reaction with some guessing he’ll announce his decision to leave for LSU on Day 225 – 225 is the Baton Rouge area code – or others seeing a “Hotty…” inscribed on a different page leading them to believe he isn’t going anywhere.

“Is that a possible Hotty toddy note from yesterday Coach?” one fan asked showing the inscription.

“One page away from Day 225. For everyone outside of Louisiana, 225 is the Baton Rouge area code. I kinda feel like I’m decoding Taylor Swift albums but I don’t hate it,” wrote another.

Kiffin and the Rebels face off against the Mississippi State Bulldogs in the final week of the regular season. With a win, Ole Miss would likely host a College Football Playoff game for the first time.
