An American Airlines had to return to Las Vegas’ Harry Reid International Airport less than an hour after takeoff on Wednesday after smoke began billowing out its engine.
Footage of the plane, taken from witnesses on the ground, show the aircraft leaving a line of thick black smoke, while flashes of explosions and loud popping noises could be heard.
Newsweek has reached out to American Airlines for comment.
Flight 1665, which was bound for Charlotte, North Carolina, took off from Vegas’ Harry Reid at 6:57 a.m. and landed back at the same airport at 7:53 a.m., the Las Vegas Review Journal reports.
