Lindsey Vonn Shares Powerful Recovery Progress Video After Olympic Crash

Lindsey Vonn is continuing her rehabilitation efforts following the surgery she underwent on her leg for last month’s devastating crash at the Winter Olympics in Italy.

The three-time Olympic medalist continues to update fans on her efforts to recover and rebuild after a brutal injury took her out of competition. In her crash, Vonn suffered a complex left leg fracture, which involved her tibia, fibula head, and tibial plateau, as well as a broken right ankle and severe compartment syndrome.

Those severe injuries required an emergency surgery, with the gold medal-winning alpine skier revealing that it helped save her from needing amputation. Now that she’s returned home and completed surgery, she appears to be already making significant progress in her recovery, as seen in a new video.

On Thursday, Vonn uploaded some recent rehabilitation footage set to Travis Tritt’s “It’s A Great Day To Be Alive,” showing her wearing various workout gear and performing exercises she can handle at her current fitness level.

In one scene, she’s doing leg extensions on a machine before the video shifts to show her receiving treatment on her leg, including electrical muscle stimulation (EMS).

Additional scenes feature Vonn performing upper-body work with light weights while seated on an exercise mat. There’s also a look at her seated in a wheelchair before she gets up, using a wall to support herself as she stands on both legs.

“Definitely some hard times but still thankful… still working hard. The only goal is to get healthy. One day at a time. #icandothis,” she wrote in an inspiring caption on her IG video post.

Vonn’s newest video quickly tallied over 35,000 likes and 1,500-plus comments from various individuals reacting to what they witnessed in her recovery efforts or providing encouragement as she continues to make progress.

“I can’t believe you’re doing all this already! So impressive girl!” one commenter wrote.

Another IG commenter told Vonn, “You are stronger!! WE love you!! You are an example for US!!”

“Lindsey, you are a legend, a force of nature, and you will win again in life above all,” a commenter said.

“You already look like you’re months into it already you really are built different. Stay strong mind/bod,” a commenter told the Olympic medalist.

Vonn courageously chose to compete at the 2026 Winter Olympics despite suffering a brutal injury just over a week before they began. She completely tore her left ACL and damaged her meniscus at a women’s downhill race in Switzerland.

However, Vonn underwent intense rehabilitation, including pool workouts, plyometrics, and help from her team, to get herself ready for the Winter Olympics.

While her decision to compete in the women’s downhill event didn’t work out in her favor and the unthinkable happened, the 41-year-old Olympic athlete now seriously looks determined to get herself back on track.
