Little Girl Couldn’t Remember Who She Was—Then Came Strange Diagnosis

A frightening moment captured on video has left millions of viewers stunned after a young girl suddenly appeared unable to recognize her own name, family members or surroundings.
The clip, shared on TikTok by user @baisley32, shows the girl sitting and struggling to answer basic questions as concerned relatives try to calm her.
“What’s your name?” someone asks in the video, to which she responds, “It’s something, um. Um. Um…I don’t know. I don’t know.”
Throughout the video, the girl repeatedly says she doesn’t know who she is or who the people around her are, prompting family members to call for medical help.
“Currently sitting in the ER waiting to be admitted under neurology care. [Doctors] can’t figure out why it happened or what it is,” the caption read.
“She had no idea who she was or anyone, for that matter. It lasted the entire 30 minutes while waiting for the ambulance. MRI showed no stroke.”
In a later update shared by the original poster, the child—identified as Bailey—was discharged from the hospital after doctors conducted a series of tests.
“After an MRI, ECHO, EEG, EKG and tons of blood work, everything was clear,” the update said. “Neurology diagnosed it as a complex migraine, even though her head didn’t start hurting until HOURS later.”
Bailey was sent home with medication and is recovering, though is still experiencing mild “brain fog.”
She has no memory of the incident.
While rare, migraines can sometimes produce neurological symptoms that mimic more serious conditions. A type known as hemiplegic migraine can cause confusion, speech difficulties and other neurological changes.
The condition can be alarming because its symptoms often resemble those of a stroke.
“A hemiplegic migraine is an alarming experience, but it isn’t an emergency,” the Cleveland Clinic notes, adding that people experiencing stroke-like symptoms should still seek immediate medical care.
Memory loss or confusion in children can occur for several reasons. Medical issues ranging from concussions to neurological conditions can disrupt memory temporarily, according to THINK Neurology for Kids.
The article also notes that sudden brain-related symptoms can affect short-term memory and cognitive function.

The video has sparked a wave of reactions from viewers, many of whom shared their own experiences or praised the family’s response during the frightening moment.
One wrote, “Hemiplegic migraine! I suffered one of these and it persists to look like a stroke, and it’s the most terrifying thing, and you just can’t talk and get your words out.”
Another viewer focused on the girl’s sister in the video: “Let me just say Leslie did amazing with her sister in this moment. I know it must have been scary for her too, but when you left her voice went from sad to strong.”
“She knows! She just can’t say it,” one commenter noted. “She sounds relieved when you say her name and she can just say yes.”
For now, Bailey’s family says she is recovering and back home, though they plan to continue seeking medical advice to better understand what caused the alarming episode.
