LSU, Lane Kiffin Land First Transfer QB After Long Search
The LSU Tigers have finally landed a quarterback in the transfer portal after a long search, getting the signature of former Elon quarterback Landen Clark.
LSU has lost multiple players to the transfer portal and to graduation, including Garrett Nussmeier, the starter heading into the season.

Clark has been one of the more under-the-radar signal callers, given that his career started in the FCS, though multiple figures in the college football world, including head coach Lane Kiffin, were interested in him.
He went on a visit to Michigan and got an offer from a recent College Football Playoff team, James Madison, but Clark has turned to Kiffin for development in his system, which has produced quality quarterback play over the years.

According to reports, LSU was the first team to reach out to Clark when the transfer portal opened. He went on a multi-day visit to Baton Rogue where he spoke to coaches and staff in a meeting that was likely pivotal to his decision.

What is next for Lane Kiffin at quarterback?
While Clark’s commitment is a coup for Kiffin, he is seen as more of a project at quarterback who will need time to sit, and the new head coach can hardly afford to wait for him to develop.
Kiffin needs to get another quarterback, and the biggest name on the market left is Sam Leavitt, who has wrapped up visits to LSU, Miami, and Tennessee.
The Tigers’ head coach went to Nashville to meet with Leavitt again while he was in between visits, hoping to get his commitment, but Leavitt is seemingly intent on thinking his decision through before choosing his landing spot.
Husan Longstreet, a redshirt freshman with four years of college ball left, has been in Baton Rouge as LSU waits for Leavitt’s decision, and he has been a potential alternative.
While Kiffin would ideally want a ready-made quarterback to step in year one, he may need to settle for Clark and Longstreet battling come the spring.
