Major WWE Star’s Return Is On The Horizon Ahead Of SummerSlam

Roman Reigns has not been on WWE television since the Raw after WrestleMania 41. At the event, Paul Heyman helped Seth Rollins win their three-way match that also included CM Punk.

Reigns made a brief appearance on Raw the following night but has been absent ever since. With SummerSlam 2025 approaching, it appears his return is being planned.

Roman Reigns’ WWE Return Is On The Horizon

According to the social media account WrestleVotes, a return for Reigns may happen soon. The account reports that his name is being mentioned more internally.

“It seems that time of year again—Roman Reigns’ return is on the horizon,” the report stated. “Sources indicate his name has popped up internally in recent weeks.”

The report notes that this usually signals that plans are being put in place. This would time his return for the build to SummerSlam.

“[This] typically signal[s] the wheels are in motion for a return heading into the biggest party of the summer,” the post concluded.

Roman Reigns’ History At WWE SummerSlam

Reigns’ history at SummerSlam showcases his evolution from a rising star to a generational talent. His early appearances included a notable singles victory over Randy Orton in 2014 and his first main event in 2017’s chaotic Fatal Four-Way. In 2018, he captured his first Universal Championship by finally defeating his rival, Brock Lesnar.

However, the event became the stage for his most iconic transformation. He made his shocking return in 2020, attacking “The Fiend” and Braun Strowman and debuting his “Tribal Chief” persona. This launched an era of dominance with a string of classic main events.

He defeated John Cena in 2021, Brock Lesnar in a wild Last Man Standing match in 2022, and his cousin Jey Uso in a dramatic “Tribal Combat” match in 2023. More than any other event, SummerSlam has defined the most pivotal moments of Reigns’ legendary career.

With such a history at the event and where WWE left off as time that Reigns was at the event, one would think that WWE has major plans for him coming up in a few months. There’s been speculation that he could work a singles match with Rollins or team up with CM Punk for a tag team match. For now, we will have to wait and see.
