Marjorie Taylor Greene has reignited tensions within the Republican Party, posting a pointed message on social media that both defends her recent actions and takes a subtle swipe at Donald Trump.
Greene, once one of Trump’s most loyal allies in the House, has recently broken with the administration and clashed with GOP colleagues on a series of high-profile issues, including the release of the Jeffrey Epstein files. Trump has dismissed renewed attention to the case as “the Jeffrey Epstein Hoax” and claimed Democrats were reviving it to distract from their handling of the shutdown and other issues.
In a lengthy post on X, Greene thanked supporters, saying: “I want to thank everyone who texted and posted and commented support for me, you all are so kind and I appreciate, love, and support you too.”
She defended her advocacy for releasing the Epstein files and her support for victims, noting: “I never thought that fighting to release the Epstein files, defending women who were victims of rape, and fighting to expose the web of rich powerful elites would have caused this, but here we are.”
Greene also criticized what she described as the “toxic political industrial complex,” arguing it “thrives on ripping us all apart but never delivers anything good for the American people.” She emphasized unity over partisanship, saying, “We can have our own differences and differing opinions but we can still love and respect one another. We have far more in common than we have apart.”
Closing her post, Greene underscored her loyalty to the American public over party leadership, writing, “I believe in the American people more than I believe in any leader or political party,” and urged an “America First America Only” approach, calling it “the most dangerous pursuit of all.”
