Massive Trade Idea Has Grizzlies Land $94M Sharpshooting Forward
As we get closer to the NBA trade deadline, one of the most highly-coveted names on the block is forward Cameron Johnson of the Brooklyn Nets. Johnson is being linked to multiple teams ahead of the deadline, with Brooklyn holding his value very highly across the NBA.
Due to the limited amount of wing depth available, teams may have to pay a pretty penny to land Johnson. Brooklyn has reportedly been wanting multiple first-round draft picks for Johnson but it remains to be seen if they will accomplish that feat.
In this new trade scenario, Bill DiFilippo of Uproxx has the Nets sending Johnson over to the Memphis Grizzlies. Memphis has been one of the main teams looking to improve themselves ahead of the trade deadline and landing Johnson would do exactly that.
Here is what the deal would look like between the Nets and Grizzlies.
GRIZZLIES GET: Cam Johnson
NETS GET: Marcus Smart, Luke Kennard, a 2026 unprotected first-round pick
“Memphis has seemingly been in the market for a big wing forever, but has never quite been able to find one. But with the team sitting in a top-3 seed in the Western Conference and looking like a potential nightmare to deal with come playoff time, what better time than right now to try and load up for a potential run at a title? Johnson would give them size, shooting, and toughness that should all fit right into what the Grizzlies are building — plus he’s in the second year of a four-year deal that is going to age quite well as the salary cap goes up.”

After an injury-riddled season last year, the Grizzlies are back as one of the best teams in the Western Conference. Adding Johnson to the mix could help put them over the top and make them much more formidable come playoff time.
Johnson is known for his 3-point shooting and ability to play defense. Memphis could use his services and they seem ready to strike a deal.
The Grizzlies were finalists to land Dorian Finney-Smith from the Nets before Brooklyn sent him to the Los Angeles Lakers. Brooklyn has done a deep dive into what Memphis can offer them, making a trade seemingly easy between the two sides.
If they are able to land Johnson, it could change everything out in the West. Memphis is ready to show that they mean business and making a splash ahead of the trade deadline would only further that thought.
