Michael J. Fox Celebrates ‘Lifetime of Love’ in Throwback Photo With Wife Tracy Pollan
Entertainment gossip and news from Newsweek’s network of contributors
Michael J. Fox is celebrating a lifetime of love with his wife of three decades, Tracy Pollan.
The actor-author couple have shared countless sweet moments over their decades-long romance, including a recent 64th birthday tribute. For their 36th anniversary, the actor authored a heartwarming message for his wife on Instagram: “Here’s to a lifetime of love with the love of a lifetime. Happy anniversary, T. Forever ♥️”
“Just watched the episode of Family Ties at the train station. So beautiful that your love for each other remains unshakeable, and eternal. Happy Anniversary!!! 🙏❤️” one user wrote under Fox’s Instagram memory with Pollan.
The duo played onscreen lovers in Family Ties back in 1985, although their relationship remained platonic as they dated other people. Their casting in Bright Lights, Big City invited a second opportunity at romance. Fox and Pollan made their red carpet debut on September 20, 1987, at the 39th Annual Emmy Awards.
Three months later, the Back to the Future alum proposed to Pollan on December 26, 1987.
“I wasn’t really worried that she would say no,” Fox shared with PEOPLE for his 1989 cover story, per Parade. “The toughest part was trying to figure out when to get married, and then to figure out how nobody else could know about it.”
Fox and Pollan enjoyed a summer wedding on July 16, 1988, in Woodstock, Vermont, but not without the company of paparazzi and heavy security. The following May, the couple welcomed their first child, son Sam Michael. They went on to welcome three more children: twin daughters Aquinnah and Schuyler and daughter Esme.
Fox and Pollan have frequently praised each other over the years. The Teen Wolf actor has often spoken out about how his wife has handled his battle with Parkinson’s disease.
“She had indicated to me by saying in for better or for worse, in sickness and in health,” Fox told CBS Mornings in 2023. “She was able to get me through it, and go through it with me. And she has for 35 years.”
