According to a reported statement by her Political Action Committee, Michigan Gov. Gretchen Whitmer is not a contender for Democrat Gary Peters’ U.S. Senate seat.
Peters announced Tuesday he will not seek a third term in 2026.
“Governor Whitmer is grateful for Senator Peters’ service. She is proudly serving the people of Michigan as governor and is not running for this seat in the senate,” the statement from Whitmer’s Fight Like Hell PAC to Politico national reporter Elena Schneider states.
