Millie Bobby Brown’s Dad’s Reaction to Her New Look
Entertainment gossip and news from Newsweek’s network of contributors
Millie Bobby Brown reveals her dad wasn’t exactly effusive when it came to her new hairstyle.
The Stranger Things actress sat for an interview with Call Her Daddy host Alex Cooper and opened up on the podcast, released Wednesday, March 12, about transforming her look and facing criticism.
Brown, 21, noted she spent 13 hours in the stylist’s chair to get her platinum-blonde locks. “I walk into the room, and my dad’s like, ‘Oh.'”

Although she shared the moment with a laugh, she got more serious when addressing the backlash after debuting the new ‘do on the red carpet in Los Angeles on February 24, with some fans criticising she looked older than her age.
“A thing that I get a lot is like, ‘Oh my God, she looks like 40,'” The Electric State star said. “And I’m like, well yeah, you did meet me when I was 10, so I understand. Now I’m 21; it’s been 10 years. She grows. My face, like, grew. What do you want me to do about that?”
Brown explained that comments on her appearance used to bother her and she would try “to change myself to please the masses.”
“If I had a genie wish, I really would wish that no one ever had to go through that kind of scrutiny because it changes the kind of person you are,” she admitted. “It changes the way you perceive the world. You see the bad in everyone, you don’t see the good. You’re like, ‘What are your intentions, what are you going to say about me?'”
The Enola Holmes star shifted to a happier topic and discussed her May 2024 wedding with Jake Bongiovi in Tuscany, Italy.
“I didn’t stress. I wasn’t stressed. I’m just a planner she said, explaining, “I’m not yelling at people, I’m not bridezilla. I just knew every second of that schedule, like every second.”
She also memorized her lengthy vows, which took her six minutes to deliver to Bongiovi, 22. “People were like, ‘When’s it going to end?'” she joked. “I’m an actor, I cannot help it, I had to say everything I felt! I was like, ‘And one more thing.'”
Also six minutes? An “epic” choreographed routine she and her new husband performed for guests, dressed as Sandy and Danny from the iconic 1978 film Grease. “I can’t believe Jake actually did it,” she said. “We did a Grease medley, so it started with ‘You’re the One That I Want,’ it went into ‘Summer Nights,’ it went into ‘We Stick Together.'”
