MLB Players Give Clear Answer on If the Savannah Bananas Could Beat the Rockies
A question has gone viral on baseball social media.
No, it’s not about Shohei Ohtani, Aaron Judge, or anything about the new Automated Ball-Strike (ABS) challenge system.
It’s about the worst team in Major League Baseball for 2025, the Colorado Rockies.
And in a hypothetical matchup, could the fun-loving, dancing, and hip-shaking Savannah Bananas beat them?
While many saw the initial post, which has now been viewed over two million times, as a joke, it sparked discussion across every niche of the baseball online community.
Although the Bananas players aren’t MLB-level, many were scouted from the minor leagues, with some having experience at the highest level.
The Rockies, on the other hand, had one of the worst records in the history of America’s pastime, winning 43 games and losing 119 last campaign.

While some fans tried to play devil’s advocate by talking about how big a crapshoot a single game of baseball can be and that it’s not out of the realm of possibility that one in a 100 games that the Bananas could win, a current MLB player weighed in on the debate with a clear answer.
“No,” St. Louis Cardinals pitcher Hunter Dobbins posted on X. “No, no they can’t.”
Former Chicago White Sox pitcher Jake Suddreth also weighed in on the discussion with an even more emphatic no.
“The Savannah Bananas couldn’t beat the Rockies if the Rockies used five players from every level of their minor league system and five big leaguers,” Suddreth said online. “The Savannah Bananas are pretty good baseball players and great entertainers, not great baseball players.”
With Rob Manfred continually trying to spice up the All-Star Game, don’t be shocked if one day we see this fictional battle come to life.
And if it does, how many runs could the MLB All-Stars win by against the Bananas?
