Mom Hears Strange Noise on Baby Cam—Shocked by What She Finds in the Crib
A Michigan mom was left baffled after hearing a mysterious sound coming from her baby monitor.
Colbi Rich (@colbi_rich), 32, shared the moment she went to investigate a strange buzzing noise coming from her daughter’s room on TikTok.
“I was definitely confused,” Rich told Newsweek. “It wasn’t the normal sound from her sound machine, so when I heard it, I thought there was something wrong with [it].”
Wanting to check everything was alright, Rich quietly entered the room of her toddler, who was sleeping at the time. As she listened closely, she realized the noise wasn’t coming from a malfunctioning baby monitor, it coming from the bed, but with no immediate sign of what was causing it.

The unexpected culprit turned out to be her daughter’s electric toothbrush—something that she carries everywhere. The family has even dubbed it her “emotional support toothbrush.”
Rich suspects that her daughter had tucked it into bed with her before naptime and accidentally switched it on in her sleep.
“Finally, when I realized she was sleeping on top of the toothbrush and I pulled it out, it took everything in me not to burst out laughing and wake her up,” Rich said.
The clip has been viewed over 525,000 times and received over 15,000 likes. Other fellow parents commented on the hilarious video, many of whom were relieved that it was just a toothbrush the mom discovered.
“Oh thank god it’s just a toothbrush,” one user laughed. “So glad it was that,” wrote another. Rich agreed and said: “You’re not alone.”
Others observed that the toddler just needed some white noise in order to fall asleep.
One parent revealed that they knew exactly what it was when they heard the sound and that her youngest child loves to leave them around the house.
“She leaves them everywhere!” Rich replied. Despite having a holder specifically for the toothbrush, Rich said that they still wind up under the bed or on the couch.
“I definitely didn’t think [the video] would blow up as much as it did,” Rich told Newsweek. “I feel like a lot of parents can relate—and you can tell from the comments. Kids do the funniest things, and I think everyone got a good laugh out of it.”
