Mom Shares How Toddler Sleeps, Shock at Truth: ‘I Fear This Isn’t Normal’

A South Florida mom has shocked internet viewers regarding her toddler’s epic night of sleep.

In a post on TikTok, Olivia (@oliviapontano) revealed that her daughter snoozed for over 15 hours on October 10. Olivia wrote on the first image of her 18-month-old Briella: “Told them my baby sleeps through the night…” The next slide shows another image with the text overlay: “What, for like 8 hours?”

But the final slide showed a sleep-tracking screenshot, proving that Briella was fast asleep from 5:27 p.m. to 9 a.m. the next day. Total time asleep: 15 hours, 4 minutes.

Olivia, who also has 8-month-old Brynn with husband Robert, crowned her girls “the queens of sleeping” in her caption. She told Newsweek that Briella and Brynn were born just 10 months apart, weighing only 3 and 4 pounds.

“I became very familiar with waking up multiple times a night during those early months,” Olivia said.

Over time, though, her babies became strong, steady sleepers—something Olivia attributes to their intensely active lifestyle.

Days in South Florida often mean long hours outdoors in 90-degree heat, so, when bedtime rolls around, the girls are “worn out.”

“Some nights, they’ll fall asleep at 6 p.m., others at 7 p.m.,” Olivia added. “It really varies from day to day.”

On the night in question, she wasn’t alarmed at all. Briella was exhausted because she had skipped her nap two days in a row due to teething.

“Sleeping 15 hours at night isn’t typical for her—it only happened for a few nights,” Olivia added.

Instead of concern, the mom of two felt relieved; her daughter was catching up with rest. “She’s a happy, healthy child, and a little extra sleep is perfectly normal for an active toddler,” Olivia said.

The reaction online caught her off guard. While many of the 886,000-plus viewers were amazed by Briella’s sleep marathon, some were critical of Olivia putting her daughter down for the night for too long.

“Mine’s a 12-hour sleeper. I thought I was lucky,” one user commented.

“Girl, you’re gonna [sic] take over the world with how rested you must be,” another posted.

“None of us are hating, we’re just jealous,” a third user wrote.

A fourth added: “1. I fear this isn’t normal. 2. don’t you miss her lol [laugh out loud].”

While she was grateful for the positive comments, Olivia called the others “disappointing.”

“People were so quick to judge and blame without understanding the whole situation,” she said. “As a mom, your first priority is always your child—if I had even the slightest concern, I would have addressed it immediately.”
