Additional imagery has been recovered by the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) in the Nancy Guthrie case. The images are from cameras at Guthrie’s Arizona home, according to a report from ABC News.
Newsweek has contacted the FBI via email and the Pima County Sheriff’s Department via an online contact form for comment outside of normal business hours.
The Context
Nancy Guthrie, the 84-year-old mother of Today show co-host Savannah Guthrie, has been missing for almost seven weeks. She was last seen at her home on January 31 in Tucson, Arizona. She was then reported missing the following day.
Authorities believe she was kidnapped and said drops of her blood were found on the front porch. There has been continual concern expressed for her health because she needs vital medication every day.
The FBI released a video from a doorbell camera on February 10. That video showed a man wearing a ski mask, a jacket, long pants, gloves and a handgun holster on her porch on the night she disappeared.
There have been reports from multiple outlets which state that they received ransom notes. At least one of those demanded payment in cryptocurrency. But authorities have not verified the authenticity of these notes.

The ABC News report cited unnamed sources briefed on the investigation. The report stated that the images had been recovered in recent weeks. They are from motion-activated cameras.
Those cameras were trained on the swimming pool, backyard and side yard, per the report.
Newsweek has not independently received the images.
Video footage has not been recovered. However, thumbnail images were captured when the cameras were triggered by motion. Nothing suspicious was recorded, per the report.
Several people were observed in the back and side yards over an unspecified period of time prior to the abduction.
Meanwhile, the search for Nancy Guthrie is ongoing. In the days after she was reported missing, Savannah sat with her siblings, Annie and Camron, in a video posted on Instagram.
She made a heart-wrenching plea for her mother’s kidnapper to send “proof of life.” In another video, she said, “We will pay.”
No proof was received that Nancy Guthrie was alive.
In a recent interview with NBC News, Pima County Sheriff Chris Nanos said investigators believe they know the motive for the crime.
