NASCAR: What Is The 2024 Cup Series Playoff Field And Schedule?
The field for the 2024 NASCAR Cup Series Playoffs has been finalized after the regular-season finale held at Darlington Raceway. The Cook Out Southern 500 determined the last three available spots and secured the Regular Season victory for Tyler Reddick.
Thirteen of the sixteen playoff positions were already secured before the drivers hit the track in Darlington. However, it was the performance of Chase Briscoe, Martin Truex Jr., and Ty Gibbs that stole the spotlight, as they clinched the final three spots.
Briscoe’s victory in the No. 14 Stewart-Haas Racing Ford, secured his spot in the playoffs, whereas, Martin Truex Jr. and Ty Gibbs bagged theirs based on their standings.
Speaking about his win to the media, Briscoe commented, as quoted by NASCAR.com:
“For all 320 employees, everybody, to be able to race for a championship in their final year, man, unbelievable. This group, the day that we found out that the team wasn’t going to exist anymore, we went over to the shop floor, we all looked at each other and said, ‘We’re in this till the end. We’re not going to give this up.’
“We kept saying all week we got one bullet left in the chamber. That bullet hit.”
