Netflix Drops Red Sox Behind-The-Scenes Series ‘The Clubhouse’ 2-Minute Trailer
As the Boston Red Sox approach the 2025 season with renewed optimism, starting on April 8 they will receive a reminder of the struggle that was their 2024 campaign. The Red Sox ended the campaign in third place in American League East, at 81-81, missing the postseason for a third consecutive season.
That date is when the streaming service Netflix releases an eight-episode behind-the-scenes documentary-style miniseries, “The Clubhouse: A Year With the Boston Red Sox.”
Netflix on Wednesday released the first full trailer for the series, clocking in at two minutes, 12 seconds.

The series is directed by Emmy-winner Greg Whiteley, whose previous sports-related documentaries include “Last Chance U,” chronicling the lives of junior college football players, and “America’s Sweethearts: Dallas Cowboy Cheerladers,” the title of which is self-explanatory.
Whiteley also directed “New York Doll,” a 2005 documentary on Arthur “Killer” Kane, bass player for the legendary underground rock band the New York Dolls, and “Mitt,” on the subject of former Republican presidential candidate — as well as Massachusetts governor and United States senator from Utah — Mitt Romney.
“Of all the sports shows we’ve produced, the sport itself has served as merely a backdrop to tell highly personal stories,” Whiteley said, in a Netflix press release. “While shooting the Red Sox 2024 season, we were astounded to discover that baseball is the exception — it’s so all-consuming that it leaves virtually no room for a personal life away from the ballpark.”
According to Boston.com writer Elli Einset, “The Clubhouse” will “focus on aspects of the team from trades to the family sacrifice that comes with the sport. A main focus of the trailer is on the mental toughness that is required in baseball, and playing in Boston specifically.”
One month ago, on Feb. 12, Netflix released a brief clip from the show, but Wednesday’s release gives viewers a much more detailed look at the content of the series.
