New Details About My Chemical Romance’s Bob Bryar’s Death

When My Chemical Romance’s longest-running drummer, Bob Bryar, died at age 44 in November 2024, many questions arose regarding his death. Now, new and harrowing details have been released.

In an autopsy report obtained by TMZ on Monday, March 3, Tennessee’s Bedford County Medical Examiner confirmed that the rock star’s body was so badly decomposed when found that it was an obstacle to determining an exact cause of death. Bryar was last seen alive November 4, and his body was discovered in his Tennessee home on November 26.

The medical examiner reported that two dogs were found in the home when Bryar’s body was discovered, and his body suffered substantial “animal scavenging activity.”

Per TMZ, the report noted that there were three large nitrous oxide canisters next to his body and antidepressants were found elsewhere in the home. But because of his body’s condition, the medical examiner’s final word is that the drummer’s cause and manner of death are “best classified as undetermined.”

Bryar was the drummer for My Chemical Romance from 2004 to 2010, when he chose to leave the rock group to try playing with other bands. During his time with MCR, he played drums on the wildly successful 2006 album The Black Parade and wrote songs, including five (“Party Poison,” “Na Na Na,” “The Only Hope for Me Is You,” “Save Yourself” and “Bulletproof Heart”) on the Danger Days: The True Lives of the Fabulous Killjoys album that was released after his departure. He eventually left music to try his hand at real estate.
