New Siblings Welcome Rescue Dog Who Didn’t Know How To Play

When a golden retriever named Sadie was adopted by a dog owner from Arizona she didn’t even know how to play. However, her new siblings immediately took matters into their own paws, and internet users can’t cope with their special welcome.

In a post shared on TikTok in December under the username @say3goldenfarm, Sadie can be seen hanging around with two of her new siblings, also golden retrievers, excitedly trying to initiate play with her.

While she has no idea how to play with them, she’s just as excited to be around them as they are, judging by her wagging tail and the look on her face.

“This was the first day we brought Sadie home and she didn’t know how to play yet but look at that tail go,” the caption says.

The poster’s pups immediately accepted their new sister and tried their best to make her feel at home. However, this doesn’t always happen when you bring a new dog home to your pets without prior introduction.

Bringing a new pet home can cause tension and aggression. But if you do it the right way, your pups can become best of friends—just like Sadie and her siblings.

An article shared by The Vets, medically reviewed by Dr. Laura Fontana, says that before introducing your pup to their new sibling, you should expose them to each other’s scent. This helps them gradually familiarize with the new family member.

When the time is right for a face-to-face introduction, remember to do it in a neutral space—like a dog park—to avoid territorial behaviors inside the house, keeping both dogs secured with their own leash.

Always pay attention to the pups’ body language and if either of them seems to be uncomfortable around the other, it means you are going to have to go back a step and make sure you’re doing everything right. If you struggle with this, a pet behaviorist can help.

Preventive Vet suggests using positive reinforcement when training your pets to live together. You can also use pheromones to provide a calmer environment.

The video quickly went viral on social media and it has so far received over 1.4 million views and 129,500 likes on the platform.
