Nexus Health Systems Announces New CEO
Nexus Health Systems announced Tuesday that Erin Cassidy will be the next chief executive officer.
The health system said in a press release that her appointment marks a natural evolution of Nexus’s leadership as it continues its commitment to whole-person, integrated care for young people with complex medical needs.
Why It Matters
Nexus Health Systems provides specialty care for patients with medical, behavioral and psychiatric needs based in Houston, Texas.
Cassidy joined Nexus Health in 2008 and has served in several leadership roles, including as CEO/Administrator of Nexus Specialty Hospital in Shenandoah, Texas.
Under her leadership, Nexus Health said Cassidy expanded its footprint with new inpatient facilities in Dallas and San Antonio to bring care to more families across the state.
“Over the years, I’ve seen firsthand how truly integrated care changes lives,” Cassidy said in a statement. “At Nexus, we’ve long believed that medical, behavioral and mental health services shouldn’t operate in silos. By uniting them, we’re improving outcomes and restoring hope for patients and families who have struggled to find the right care.”
What To Know
In her time at Nexus, Cassidy led the Changing Care Together Summit to foster collaboration between clinicians, policy makers, payers and community leaders across the health system. She said collaboration and trust building are essential for the future of health care, especially for inpatient care.
Nexus Health said the demand for high-level specialized treatment is rising, especially in states without existing programs, “underscoring the urgent need for Nexus’ pioneering approach.”
Cassidy said the health system realized five years ago that its integrated model of care delivered to adults was “desperately needed” for the underserved population of children and young people.
“The outpouring of support for this approach nationwide has been overwhelming,” she said. “Families, clinicians and community partners have embraced this model because it drives better outcomes, reduces readmissions, and helps patients sustain progress long after discharge.”
Nexus offers innovative programming designed to stabilize and empower children, teens and adults with challenging diagnoses, including autism, neurodevelopmental disorders, Prader-Willi Syndrome, neurological injuries and illnesses and other medically complex conditions.
What People Are Saying
Nexus Health System’s new CEO Erin Cassidy said in a statement: “I’ve never been more optimistic about what’s ahead. Every day, we see children and young adults who don’t fit neatly into existing systems of care. Nexus was built for them. We’re creating programs that meet their full range of needs, giving families the answers and support they’ve been searching for.”
