NFL Hits Steelers’ DK Metcalf With Punishment for Attacking Lions Fan
The Pittsburgh Steelers and the Detroit Lions had one of the strangest games of the 2025 NFL season on Sunday, and one player will be out for the rest of the regular season due to off-field actions.
During the second quarter of a must-win game for both teams, star wide receiver DK Metcalf was caught jawing with a Lions fan hanging over the guardrail on the sidelines. Following what is believed to be some choice words against Metcalf and his family, the Steelers player reached up and swiped at the boisterous fan.
While the referees calling the game could not go back and punish Metcalf or the Steelers who ultimately won the game, for what he did was off the field, the NFL as a whole definitely could and did on Monday.
Per NFL Network’s Tom Pelissero, Metcalf is suspending the wideout without pay for the final two games of Pittsburgh’s regular season.

For the Steelers, all they need to make the postseason is a single win or for the Ravens to drop their next game against the Green Bay Packers. The Steelers and Ravens play in the final week of the season.
Pittsburgh takes on the Cleveland Browns in Week 17, which would clinch them the AFC North crown, but they will have to do it without one of their most talented attacking players.
Metcalf has had an up-and-down first year with the Steelers following a trade from the Seattle Seahawks, finishing the regular season with his suspension at 850 receiving yards and six touchdowns.
