Nintendo Direct Coming This Week – Where to Watch and What to Expect
Entertainment gossip and news from Newsweek’s network of contributors
Nintendo has announced a new Nintendo Direct set to be aired this week, after weeks of speculation and rumors of a presentation for Switch and Switch 2 games.
The Direct is a Partner Showcase Direct, which typically features games from third-party developers and not from Nintendo itself, but that doesn’t mean it’s likely to be dull. There are likely hundreds of games in development for the Switch 2, and we’ve only just scratched the surface.

Bandai Namco
In this handy guide we’ve put together everything you need to know about the upcoming Nintendo Direct Partner Showcase, including how and where to watch the Nintendo Direct and what to expect from the Partner Showcase presentation.
When Does the Nintendo Direct Start?
The Nintendo Direct: Partner Showcase will take place at 9:00am ET on July 31, 2025.
This means that it should take place on July 31 in most regions, with only New Zealand’s time zone slipping into August 1.
Here’s when you can watch the Nintendo Direct in your time zone:
- PDT – 6:00am
- CDT – 8:00am
- EDT – 9:00am
- BRT – 10:00am
- BST – 2:00pm
- CEST – 3:00pm
- IST – 6:30pm
- CST – 9:00pm
- JST/KST – 10:00pm
- AEST – 11:00pm
- NZST – 1:00am (August 1)
What Will Be in the Nintendo Direct Partner Showcase?
Nintendo says that the Nintendo Direct: Partner Showcase will last for approximately 25 minutes, and will contain information on upcoming Nintendo Switch and Nintendo Switch 2 games from third-party developers and publishers.
There are a number of third-party games that have previously been announced that we can probably expect to get release dates, such as Elden Ring, Final Fantasy VII Remake, and Professor Layton and the New World of Steam. Hollow Knight: Silksong may also make an appearance, especially given recent news that a demo for the game will be playable at Gamescom on the recently announced Xbox handheld.
Newly announced third-party games will almost certainly make an appearance, too, though those are definitely harder to predict. Sega, Square Enix, and Bandai Namco are all strong supporters of Nintendo hardware historically, as is Ubisoft. We’re also expecting a Call of Duty game on Switch 2 at some point in the future — but it’s probably too early to be betting on that.
How to Watch the Nintendo Direct
The Nintendo Direct: Partner Showcase will stream live on YouTube, Twitch, and in the Nintendo Today app.
You can watch the YouTube stream below, which we’ve embedded for ease of use.
