Nintendo’s ‘Super Mario Galaxy Movie’ Announcement Sets Internet on Fire


The world has been patiently waiting for more news on the follow-up to the blockbuster hit, “The Super Mario Bros. Movie.” Nintendo hit gold with the video game adaptation, which raked in a staggering  $1.361 billion at the worldwide box office, becoming the highest-earning video game adaptation ever.

Now, Nintendo decided to shadow drop a massive announcement, leading the fans to flock to the internet over the news.

When the movie was first announced, it was revealed that Chris Pratt signed on to be the lead. Naturally, the internet was not too kind about the casting.

After the initial trailer arrived, “The Super Mario Bros. Movie” began to win some people over. When the movie finally arrived, it became a huge hit. The full cast included Anya Taylor-Joy as Princess Peach, Charlie Day as Luigi, Jack Black as Bowser,  Keegan-Michael Key as Toad, Seth Rogen as Donkey Kong, and Fred Armisen as Kranky Kong.

The new-look adaptation featured Mario being from Brooklyn and being sucked into the Mushroom Kingdom. He is tasked with stopping the evil Bowser while also saving his brother, Luigi.

The massive nature of the movie led to an immediate sequel being greenlit. During a Nintendo Direct, it was announced that the sequel would follow and involve one of the most beloved games in the video game franchise.

The title of the film was announced as “Super Mario Galaxy Movie,” and Nintendo has now announced the trailer and more will be revealed.

In a post on the official Nintendo account, it was revealed that a new Nintendo Direct on Nov. 12 would feature the first full-length trailer for the sequel. Fans also got a small teaser poster, which has led to nearly a million views on the above post alone.

Fans flocked to the announcement in droves, honing in on the little details of the poster.

One pointed out the restaurant at Universal Studios Mario Land being canon by saying, “You made the THEME PARK canon?!”

Fans are clearly incredibly excited for the sequel film. Nintendo might have another billion-dollar film on its hands simply by the huge response to the sequel.

What the Nintendo Direct might showcase is the new cast that has been added. It is believed that most of the cast from the first film is set to return in some manner. However, a bigger ensemble cast might also be involved.

The “Super Mario Galaxy Movie” details will be revealed on Nov. 14 at 6 am PT, per the post.
