Notre Dame’s Jeremiyah Love Sends Warning Before Heisman Trophy Ceremony

Notre Dame’s College Football Playoff snub led to heavy bickering in the college football community and a revelation that stunned the rest of the college football world.

In the wake of the Fighting Irish’s exclusion from the playoff, Yahoo Sports’ Ross Dellenger reported that, as part of a memorandum of understanding signed by the playoff committee, Notre Dame is essentially guaranteed a playoff spot if it is ranked in the top 12 beginning next year. If the playoff expands to 14 teams and additional at-large berths are added, Notre Dame would be a lock for a spot if it entered No. 13 of better.

Following that revelation, Yahoo Sports‘s Dan Wolken revealed rival athletic directors are “threatening to freeze [Notre Dame] out of future schedules.”

Asked about rival athletic directors potentially freezing Notre Dame out of their schedules, star running back and Heisman Trophy finalist Jeremiyah Love suggested they’re just scared to play the Fighting Irish.

“They’re scared to play us. They don’t want to play Notre Dame because we’re Notre Dame. You’re leaving us out of your schedule, it’s not a good look. Why not play us? That’s how I think about it,” he said.

Love is set to take center stage on Saturday night, going up against Indiana quarterback Fernando Mendoza, Vanderbilt quarterback Diego Pavia and Ohio State quarterback Julian Sayin for the Heisman Trophy.
