Ohio State Coach Ryan Day Sends Clear Warning to His Team
Ryan Day and the Ohio State Buckeyes were able to dominate the Minnesota Golden Gophers on Saturday evening to improve to 5-0 on the season. When all was said and done in the game, the Buckeyes won by a final score of 42-3.
After winning a national championship last season, Ohio State is once again looking like a legitimate contender. Despite all of the players who left for the NFL, the Buckeyes have replaced them well and have come out looking like they finished last year.
On both sides of the football, Ohio State has been dominant all season long. To this point, no major flaws have been exposed. That could change, but there is reason to be very optimistic about the Buckeyes’ chances.

With that being said, things can change very quickly in college football. That much was seen from this week’s action.
Among the couple upsets were No. 7 Penn State losing to the previously 0-4 UCLA Bruins. The No. 9 ranked Texas Longhorns also lost to the unranked Florida Gators. Finally, the No. 14 ranked Iowa State Cyclones lost to Cincinnati.
No team can take any game lightly. Day knows that to be the case for his team.
Following Ohio State’s blowout win over Minnesota, Day has spoken out and sent a very clear warning to the Buckeyes.
“You saw what happened in college football today. You got to bring it every week. The team that’s desperate, the team that’s hungry, is gonna win the game,” Day said. “It’s our job to make sure it doesn’t take a loss to make sure we are hungry and desperate, but these guys are still kids, and you gotta keep hammering it home.”
Julian Sayin has taken over at quarterback and played at an extremely high level. He has completed 80.2 percent of his passes for 1,313 yards, 13 touchdowns, and three interceptions. Jeremiah Smith has caught 35 passes for 463 yards and six touchdowns, while Carnell Tate has racked up 24 catches for 435 yards and four scores.

Defensively, Ohio State has only given up 25 points in five games. Matt Patricia, the team’s first-year defensive coordinator, has been called an aggressive and elite game each and every week.
While everything for the Buckeyes is looking good right now, they can’t afford to get ahead of themselves. Next up for Ohio State will be a matchup on the road against the ranked Illinois Fighting Illini. That will be a major test and it will be interesting to see how the team performs.
