Owner Adopts Rescue Cat for His Feline, Hearts Melt Over What Happens Next
A Reddit user’s decision to get a cat for his feline pet after consulting the internet has become a huge success, delighting viewers online.
User u/SnooChipmunks2673 took to the platform on January 13 to share an adorable photograph of his two feline companions, Miu Miu, a brown tabby, and CoCo, his new rescue cat, snuggling together. The post has been upvoted more than 36,000 times, resonating deeply with cat lovers across the platform.
“I was struggling with Miu Miu biting us,” the owner wrote in the post. “He would play for a bit, then go into crazy biting mode. I looked to Reddit for help and saw someone recommend getting another cat for him.”
That advice led to the adoption of CoCo from a local shelter five months ago. Since then, the transformation has been remarkable. “Now they are inseparable,” he added. “Miu Miu stopped biting us super hard, and they cuddle every chance they get, eat together, play all day, and then sleep together.”
“We got Miu Miu almost two years ago when he was still a little kitten,” the cats’ owner, who would prefer to keep his identity private, told Newsweek. “He is an absolute sweetie, loves to play, and loves to cuddle.
“However, whenever we play, he would get too stimulated and, after some time, he would try to bite us … As he got older, the bite got more aggressive.”

The owner tried everything, from diverting Miu Miu’s attention to toys, to pushing into the bite, to saying “ouch” to signal him that he is in pain, to no avail.
“Nothing really worked,” the poster added. “I read many articles, watched many videos, and I came across a Reddit post about a fellow Reddit user who was having the same issue. Many recommended getting another cat for him.”
The commenters had said that getting another cat could teach the resident feline to tone things down when playing too rough. After some researching and thinking, the family decided to adopt another kitten from a local animal rescue group.
“It took Miu Miu a couple days to get used to CoCo, and now they are now inseparable,” the cats’ owner said. “They love to cuddle together, play together, and sleep together.
“Coco taught Miu Miu not to bite us super hard … Now Miu Miu has completely stopped biting, and when he gets too stimulated, he walks away.”
Kate Luse, a professional cat behavior consultant at Meowz, says that, in some circumstances, adopting a second cat can help reduce anxiety and aggression in a resident cat.
“If the kitten is still quite young, having another kitten can be very helpful because kittens under 3 months of age still need their littermates to play with and to continue their socialization,” Luse told Newsweek. “The aggression of the resident cat may actually be misdirected play behavior; a littermate or other similarly aged cat with whom to engage in these behaviors could help.
“It is normal and natural for kittens to still be with their littermates. Some young kittens may feel anxious when they do not have the company of another kitten, so adopting a similarly aged feline can fix that.”
The viral post spurred thousands of comments, many from pet owners sharing similar stories. Some Reddit users recounted their experiences adopting a second cat to alleviate their first feline’s loneliness.
“Same with Bizi, he was a return to the shelter for being too much of a biter, so we got him a friend and he is so much better,” one viewer posted.
Another wrote: “Similar deal, I got Lucifer and then found him a friend two months later, Vesper is about 7 weeks younger than Luci. Vesper ended up being the biter, but I think that is just his one brain cell problem.”
For many, the pet owner’s experience is a testament to how small changes can lead to big transformations, both for pets and their owners.
“The two cats are literally best friends now,” their owner said.
