Packers Announce Encouraging Injury Update on Key Starter
The Green Bay Packers towered over the Cincinnati Bengals on Sunday with a 27-18 win, and that wasn’t the only news that came out from Packers’ camp.
During his Monday news conference, head coach Matt LaFleur said that defensive end Lukas Van Ness suffered a foot injury, but it’s not nearly as serious as it could have been.
Van Ness injured his foot during the Bengals clash when he got the Packers’ sole sack against Joe Flacco, and he didn’t come back after the injury. While LaFleur was positive about Van Ness’ injury, he didn’t make any promises about when he’d return. So far this season, Van Ness has 11 tackles and 1.5 sacks.
“We definitely avoided something serious, but how long he’ll be out remains to be seen,” LaFleur said. “I think he’s playing pretty well. He’s been impactful, playing physical. If he’s unable to go, it’s definitely going to be a loss.”

LaFleur also spoke about the injury to Packers safety Javon Bullard and shared the positive news that he’s not in the concussion protocol.
Bullard exited the field during in the third quarter and was taken into the medical tent to be evaluated for a concussion. The incident happened during a play when Bullard ran into Cincinnati running back Chase Brown.
LaFleur said that Bullard went through the full concussion evaluation and passed, calling it a “major sense of relief” that he avoided a concussion, especially since Bullard also suffered a concussion in Week 3 against the Cleveland Browns.
“He was great,” LaFleur said of Bullard’s Sunday performance. “He told me it was more of a stinger than anything else.”
LaFleur didn’t give an update on receiver Dontayvion Wicks, who left the game with an ankle injury.
Next up, the Packers take on the Arizona Cardinals on the road on Sunday. The Packers are 3-1-1, while the Cardinals are 2-4.
