Packers Criticized for ‘Not Being a Flashy Team’ in Free Agency
The 2026 NFL free agency period is over the main hump, since the official kickoff was on Wednesday, March 11, and it’s already brought a scurry of deals.
Now, it’s time to take a step back and look at what moves were made. It’s also important to reflect on NFL free agency moves, so that teams know what holes they have left to fill during the 2026 NFL draft, which takes place in April in Pittsburgh.
So, NFL experts and analysts are now grading each team’s moves and judging the effectiveness of those roster additions and subtractions.
In a Friday, February 13 feature for NBC Sports, Kyle Dvorchak grades each NFL team’s free agency moves.
“With the legal tampering period giving teams free rein to start free agency early, most of the big names have found new homes,” he notes in the story. “Now that the first few waves are behind us, this is how each team grades out from free agency and any recent trades.”

For the Green Bay Packers, he has some criticism for the team and gives them a B-.

“The Packers have returned to their typical trend of not being a flashy team in the offseason,” he says, noting that they signed defensive tackle Javon Hargrave to a two-year, $23 million contract.
“Hargrave only totaled 3.5 sacks with Minnesota last year, but PFF charted him with the 10th-best pass-rush win rate among defensive tackles in true pass-rush sets,” he adds. “They also shored up their secondary with Benjamin St-Juste on a two-year, $10 million deal. St-Juste didn’t amount to much on his rookie deal in Washington. He did, however, earn a top-10 coverage grade last year while playing a rotational role with the Chargers.”

So, in the end, Dvorchak says he likes the “upside of this bet for just $10 million,” but is critical of their Rashan Gary move. “A fourth-round return isn’t bad, but it was to correct the initial mistake of extending him,” he adds.
A B- grade isn’t horrible. After all, the Seattle Seahawks got a D+ in the same grading system. But, it means there’s room for improvement in the NFL draft.
