Packers Star’s Future With Team Looks Bleak After Latest Report
The Green Bay Packers are set to take on the NFC North rival Minnesota Vikings in Week 12 NFL action. With a 6-3-1 record, the Packers are currently in the NFC playoff picture, but there are major concerns surrounding the team.
After starting the season with two dominant wins over the Detroit Lions and Washington Commanders, Green Bay has become a very inconsistent football team. No one knows what to expect from Matt LaFleur’s squad week in and week out.
Last week, the Packers were able to pull out a hard-fought 27-20 win over the New York Giants on the road. It wasn’t a pretty game, but they got the win nonetheless. In the previous two weeks, Green Bay dropped two straight games against the Carolina Panthers and Philadelphia Eagles.

Over the next three weeks, the Packers will face off against the Vikings, Lions, and Chicago Bears. This is truly a make-or-break stretch of games for the franchise.

Looking ahead at the offseason, Green Bay will have some tough decisions to make. None of those decisions will be tougher than deciding what to do with wide receiver Romeo Doubs.
Doubs has become the Packers’ No. 1 target for star quarterback Jordan Love. He has produced good numbers since joining the team as a fourth-round pick in the 2022 NFL Draft. However, this offseason, his contract will run out and he will become a free agent.
ESPN insider Rob Demovsky recently took a look at Doubs’ upcoming free agency. He made it clear that the 25-year-old wide receiver’s future in Green Bay is very much uncertain at this point in time.
“At times, he has been Jordan Love’s go-to receiver, especially on third down. But there’s a difference between a go-to receiver and a No. 1 receiver, and he hasn’t quite been the latter,” Demovsky wrote. “The Packers already signed fellow receiver Christian Watson (from the same 2022 draft class) to a short-term extension before he came back from his knee injury this season. And they will likely have extensions coming up in 2027 for Jayden Reed and Dontayvion Wicks. Plus, they have 2025 first-round pick Matthew Golden.”

In 10 games this season, Doubs has caught 39 passes for 499 yards and four touchdowns. Those numbers are good enough to make him the Packers’ leading wide receiver.
Expect to continue hearing speculation about Doubs and Green Bay’s future together. For now, there is no telling whether or not the Packers will be able to retain him for the 2026 season.
