Patrick Reed Hole-in-1 at LIV Golf Adelaide, is Doused by Fans
LIV Golf is hosting arguably its most popular event of the season this week in Adelaide, Australia. The tournament is known for its wild environment and raucous fans.
Just over an hour into the 2025 LIV Golf Adelaide event, they once again showed why.
Patrick Reed drained a hole-in-one at the ‘Watering Hole,’ which sent fans into a frenzy.
Reed leapt around the tee box like a child as drinks rained down all around him. It was a scene straight out of a movie, but a movie that the PGA Tour would never endorse.
This is the perfect example of the type of environment the PGA Tour has distanced itself from. The ‘Happy Gilmore’ effect, so to speak.

“Well that didn’t take long,” David Feherty said on the FOX Sports broadcast. “An ace for the 4Ace in the first hour of Day 1.”
Reed has had a very tumultuous career. At one time, he was nicknamed ‘Captain America’ for his stellar play in Ryder Cups. However, his reputation took a major hit in the succeeding years.
Fans of the PGA Tour turned on him following one controversy after another. That eventually led to his decision to join LIV Golf at its inception in 2022.
He was joined by several other high-profile golfers. Five-time major champion Brooks Koepka, two-time U.S. Open winner Bryson DeChambeau and the legend himself, Mr. Phil Mickelson also jumped ship.
Mickelson made his return to LIV this week after sustaining a shoulder injury. He missed the season opener a week ago.
LIV Golf was hoping to gain some traction in 2025 after signing a deal with FOX Sports. However, the season debut’s early returns were not very promising.
Meanwhile, Golf Channel analyst Rex Hoggard believes the financials are done between LIV and the PGA Tour. But we have heard similar sentiments before.
