PGA Tour Rookie of the Year Joins TGL Club with Playoffs Looming
Another TGL team has signed a new teammate for a one-match contract. The Atlanta Drive announced Friday that they were signing 2024 PGA Tour Rookie of the Year, Nick Dunlap.
Last year, the youngster captured the golf world’s attention by winning twice on the PGA Tour.
Dunlap was the first player in 33 years to win as an amateur since Phil Mickelson when he won the American Express in January. That win prompted him to turn professional.
His second victory came at the Barracuda Championship in July, making him the first player to win as an amateur and PGA Tour professional in the same year.
“I cannot wait to compete in TGL with Atlanta Drive GC next Tuesday,” Dunlap said in the press release. “The excitement around the league has been awesome to follow, from the fan support to the feedback out on TOUR. The energy in the SoFi Center is incredible, and I am excited for the opportunity to tee it up alongside Billy and Lucas.”

His two wins are part of his already impressive resume. The former Alabama Crimson Tide golfer also won the 2023 U.S. Amateur as a sophomore. He won the 2021 U.S. Junior Amateur as well.
Dunlap joins the TGL as the second one-match contract after the Los Angeles Golf Club signed Tony Finau last week to one. Finau helped LAGC defeat New York Golf Club 5-4.
Atlanta Drive signed Dunlap to play alongside Billy Horschel and Lucas Glover, Tuesday, March 4 at 7 p.m. ET on ESPN in the final regular season match against Jupiter Links.
Atlanta Drive defeated Boston Common Golf last week to clinch a spot in the playoffs. However, the team could improve its standings in this final match. If Atlanta defeats Jupiter, it would move to the No. 2 seed. However, it cannot drop out of its current No. 3 slot.
Was Dunlap a good addition for the Atlanta Drive? Let us know in the comments.
