Joel Dahmen made one of the most spectacular shots of the second round of the Mexico Open at VidantaWorld when he holed a 95-foot putt for eagle. Not only was it an unforgettable moment for him, but the putt also helped him make the cut by two strokes.
Dahmen made the putt on the 312-yard, par-4 7th hole. The one-time PGA Tour winner hit the fairway with his 281-yard tee shot and decided to look for the hole with his putter from there. It was a 95-foot, six-inch putt that Dahmen executed to perfection without removing the pin.
If Dahmen’s putt was iconic, so was his reaction after the ball came to rest on the bottom of the cup. Instead of jumping up and down or pumping his fist in the air, Dahmen simply shrugged his shoulders as if there was nothing to see.
His eagle on the 7th hole brought his score to 5-under (2-under for the round). Dahmen had parred the first four holes of the round, then bogeyed the 5th and birdied the 6th. He then bogeyed the 9th to make the turn at 1-under for the round.
On the back nine, Dahmen continued to struggle with his game. However, despite two bogeys, he carded three birdies to finish at 5-under after 36 holes.

His performance was much better on the first day when he had no bogeys and three birdies.
This is the second cut Joel Dahmen has made in five starts during the 2025 season. The previous one came at the Farmers Insurance Open, where he also posted his first top-10 finish of the year (T9). Dahmen had not finished in the top 10 since June 2024, when he tied for 10th at the RBC Canadian Open.
The 2024 season was very unfavorable for Dahmen, with 10 missed cuts in 30 tournaments played (he withdrew once). He finished in the top-10 just once and had to fight until the final tournament of the year to keep his PGA Tour card for the 2025 season. In the end, he finished ranked 124th in the FedEx Cup Fall after tying for 35th at the RSM Classic.
